The lower town, Ragusa Ibla, was rebuilt on the medieval street plan and is one of the most atmospheric baroque quarters in Sicily, its domed churches and honey-colored palaces cascading down a hillside into a valley. Ibla has served as a filming location for the Inspector Montalbano TV series.
