Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei
Bandar Seri Begawan — often called BSB — is one of Southeast Asia's least-visited capitals. The Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, with its golden dome reflected in an artificial lagoon, is one of the most striking mosques in Asia. Kampong Ayer, the world's largest water village, houses around 30,000 people in stilted homes on the Brunei River. The surrounding Temburong rainforest is virtually untouched.

BSB is very quiet and conservative. Alcohol is not sold. Kampong Ayer is best explored by water taxi. Temburong requires a full-day trip.
